Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 June 2026
The short version
- Your messages and the media you send are end-to-end encrypted. We relay them but we can't read them.
- We sign you in with Discord and store a keyed hash of your Discord ID, not the ID, your name, or your email.
- We store the profile and photos you choose to share so other players can see them.
- We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and there are no real-world meetups.
- You can edit or remove your profile any time, and ask us to delete your account.
Eikon ("Eikon", "we", "us") is a Dalamud plugin that lets adult men playing Final Fantasy XIV find and message each other inside the game. This policy explains what we collect, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It's written plainly on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us at eikon.chat@gmail.com.
Who runs Eikon
Eikon is operated by the Eikon team. For privacy questions, data requests, or to reach a human, contact eikon.chat@gmail.com. Eikon is a fan-made project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Square Enix.
What we collect
Sign-in (Discord)
You sign in with Discord. From that, we keep a keyed hash of your Discord account ID. We do not store the ID itself, your Discord username, email, or avatar. The key that produces the hash is held separately from the database, so the hash can't simply be reversed back to your account. We use it to recognize your account when you return.
Your profile
The information you choose to add: a display name (which does not have to be your character name), pronouns, gender, age confirmation, body and tribe, a short bio, what you're looking for, your interests, your home world and data center, and an optional after-dark (NSFW) profile with details like position and role. You decide what to fill in, and you can change or remove it whenever you want.
Activity and settings
Your settings, such as discreet mode and whether you only accept messages from verified members. The accounts you favorite. When you were last active, which we use to show whether you're online.
Photos
Up to six profile photos you upload. They're held in our image storage and reviewed before they appear to others. Location and camera metadata are stripped from images. Photos you send in chat are end-to-end encrypted like your messages.
Character verification (optional)
If you verify your character through XIVAuth, we store a stable verification identifier for your character along with its home world and data center. We use this to show a verified badge and to set your world and data center. We do not store your character's name.
Messages and chat media
Your messages and the media you send are end-to-end encrypted on your device. Our server relays the encrypted data and holds it until it's delivered. We cannot read the content. To deliver and order conversations, we do hold some metadata: which accounts are in a conversation, timestamps, and delivery and read status.
Encryption keys
Your public keys (used so others can start an encrypted conversation with you) are stored on our server. Your private keys never leave your device. They're held in an encrypted local vault on your computer, protected by your passphrase and your Windows account.
Safety and moderation
If you block or report someone, we record that. If you attach evidence to a report, that evidence is encrypted to the moderation team on your device before it's sent. Our server stores only a sealed blob it can't open. Only the moderation team can unseal what you chose to include.
Technical information
Standard server logs, which can include your IP address, the time of a request, and basic device or client information. We use these to keep the service running, to rate-limit, and to prevent abuse.
How we use it
- To run the service: discovery, profiles, and message delivery.
- To confirm you're an adult and, if you choose, to verify your character.
- To keep the service safe: moderation, blocking, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention.
- To maintain, secure, debug, and improve the service.
- To meet legal obligations where they apply.
How sharing works
- Other players. Your profile and photos are shown to people you're discoverable to. The messages and photos you send go to the people you send them to, and they can read or screenshot them. Encryption protects your messages from us and from the network, not from the person on the other end.
- Service providers. We use hosting and storage providers to run Eikon (a cloud application host for the server and database, and a storage provider for images). They process data on our behalf to provide the service and are not permitted to use it for anything else.
- Legal. We may disclose information if we're required to by law or to protect people from harm. Because messages are end-to-end encrypted and we don't hold them in readable form, we cannot produce message content even if asked.
- We do not sell your data, and we don't show ads.
How long we keep it
Your account and profile data are kept while your account exists. Once a message is delivered, the encrypted copy on our server, along with any chat media, is removed within 30 days. To delete your account and the data tied to it, email us (see below); we don't yet have a self-serve delete button in the app, so we handle requests by hand. A block or report record may be kept for safety even after an account is gone, and some data may persist briefly in backups.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or remove anything in your profile at any time.
- Turn on discreet mode to disappear from discovery.
- Ask us to delete your account and the data tied to it by emailing eikon.chat@gmail.com.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To make a request, email eikon.chat@gmail.com. We'll respond within the time the law requires.
Security
Messages and chat media are end-to-end encrypted. Your Discord ID is stored as a keyed hash. Private keys stay on your device. We take reasonable measures to protect the data we do hold. No service can promise perfect security, and Eikon is early software, so please use good judgment, especially with photos and anything that could identify you.
Children
Eikon is strictly for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we remove it. If you believe a minor is using Eikon, contact eikon.chat@gmail.com right away.
Where your data is processed
Our service providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. By using Eikon, you understand your information may be transferred to and handled in locations with different data-protection laws than your own.
Other services
Eikon relies on Discord (sign-in), XIVAuth (optional character verification), and the Dalamud plugin framework. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Eikon is not affiliated with Square Enix, and Final Fantasy XIV is a trademark of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version here. If the change is significant, we'll do our best to let you know in the app.
